Activities
Activities and Touring options for the non-hunter.
The main lodge consists of 3 guest bedrooms each with their own bathrooms.
The lodge has internet access, cable TV, 2 dining areas, small library,
DVD collection, extensive wine cabinet and fabulous views from every
room.
We also have 4 self-contained chalets all with their own private facilities.
The Trophy/Games Room is 50 yards from the lodge. It features an
extensive collection of mounted trophies, taken by Mike Freeman. It
also has a fully stocked bar.
The Games Room has a Pool Table, Large Plasma screen TV, cable TV,
home theatre, Play Station 2 and many other games. Some gym equipment
such as a treader and weights are also available.
As we cater more and more for families and groups of hunters we offer
the following activities at Sherwood Park Estate;
Air rifle range with high powered air rifles being available, bow
range, putting green for golfers with clubs and putters being available,
basketball hoop, soccer ball and net, trap shooting, fishing for trout
in the local streams and lakes, 4x4 bikes and 4x4 tours over the surrounding
properties.
We are adjacent to a ski-field and this operates from June/July onwards.
Activities we can arrange;
| Helicopter scenic flights to the Glaciers, Mt Cook etc can be
organized using our pilot Kim Hollows of Fiordland Helicopters. |
| Wine tours to small boutique wineries are easily arranged and
these are within an hours drive from the lodge. |
| Jet Boat Rides on the Rangitata and Rakaia Rivers can also be
arranged and are an hours drive from the lodge. |
| Hot air ballooning with Aoraki Balloons is available and there
is the possibility of the company taking flights from Sherwood
depending on numbers, otherwise an hours drive away. |
| Day trips to places like Mt Cook alpine village with lunch at
the famous Hermitage Hotel and a side trip to Lake Tekapo is a
must and we provide the vehicle and touring guide. |
| Shopping excursions to out of the way places for New Zealand
made goods and produce using our vehicles and touring guide. |
| Fixed wing flights to the Glaciers, West Coast and Mt Cook can
be arranged using Air Safaris in Lake Tekapo. This is only 40
minutes drive from the lodge. |
| Rafting on the Rangitata River with Rangitata Rafts is a must
as this is a grade 5 river. If staying at our Quartz Creek lodge,
the rafts are put in the river right opposite the lodge and from
Sherwood Park Estate, the drive is only one hour. |
| Catch your own dinner with a trip to Mt Cook Salmon Ranch. Situated
south from Lake Tekapo on one of the canals, you can fish for
salmon and only pay for what you catch. |
| Day trips to small towns in the area such as Geraldine, Fairlie
and Waimate. Here visit the local museums, historical places,
mini- zoos such as at Waimate, go shopping and lunch at some neat
country restaurants and bistros. |
| A round of Golf at the local country Golf courses is also easily
arranged with the nearest being only 30 minutes drive away. |
| Horse trekking and bush walks can also be provided during your
stay with us. |
We are very proud of our country and we want you to experience the
beauty of it and have fun while meeting with the real New Zealanders.
The above is not a complete list of what we can offer but it is
an indication that there will be plenty for you to do and see while
the hunt goes on.
