Bow HuntsKiwi Safaris New Zealand attract more and more bow hunters every year and this is reflected in the SCI Bow Hunting Record Book where in the Tahr section alone, clients of Kiwi Safaris NZ hold 9 of the first 10 placings.Donald Van De Steene with his 46 and 5/8ths SCI Tahr currently holds number 1 placing followed by Gary Hunsicker with 45 and 2/8ths, Julian Nicholson with 44 and 5/8ths, Byron Sadler with 44 and 1/8th and Bill MacCarty with 43 and 5/8ths. We encourage our bow hunters to come early in the season from late February through to May as the days are longer, the game is more settled and the access is excellent to our properties at that time of year. We have taken every animal in the South Pacific with the bow apart from the Whitetail and have also had several hunters who have achieved their Diamond levels with us using the bow. Byron Sadler is one such hunter and he has only the Sika and Whitetail to go before he completes his grand slam. We use the spot and stalk method of hunting, plus we also have a few blinds in strategic spots. All our guides carry laser range finders and typically shots are between 25-40 yards. Mike Freeman of Kiwi Safaris is also a past winner of the World Bow Hunters chapter award for Professional Outfitter of the year.
